There are a number of ways to replace missing teeth, and the “what” isn’t as important as the “why.”
When teeth are not replaced, there is always the risk of further tooth loss. Leaving a gap in your mouth where teeth are missing commonly results in the teeth around the space starting to become loose. A bridge can “bridge” the gap created by missing teeth and is placed onto the surrounding teeth that are still intact. A partial denture works similarly, but it is made to be removable. A dental implant is placed directly into the jaw and then a restoration crown is attached to give the look and feel of a natural-looking tooth.
